AMVIS- Ambition Meets Vision



AMVIS, which stands for “Ambition Meets Vision”, is the group name for ONE of the Hottest emerging Hip-Hop Talent straight out of Zimbabwe, Harare...Amvis is a Hip Hop trio that has been doing music for the past two and a half years and have emerged as one of the hottest local talent that is yet to be discovered. 2. HOW DID THE ARTISTS/BAND GET THEIR NAME

AMVIS basically stands for Ambition Meets Vision. This lead to the creation of our name.
AMVIS is made up of 3 guys who have the vision and ambition for music.

4. WHEN & WHY DID YOU BECOME INTRESTED IN MUSIC?

We have always been interested in music from a young age.
Kripmac and K-yung started recording freestyles on cassette tapes which then moved on to making beats, recording digitally and mixing and mastering. Sky-Slasha was fond of beat boxing from a very young age which then moved on to creating beats.

5. SO FAR WHAT HAS BEEN THE PROUDEST MOMENT OF YOUR CAREER?

The proudest moment of our music career has to be the award we received for ‘’Best Hip-hop Newcomer’’ at the Zim Hip-hop Music Awards that were held on the 7th of December




6. IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

In the game right now we would definitely love to do collabo’s with artists like Karizma, Tags, Tehn Diamond, ill Ceey, Prometheus, Vari, and sum other cats that are raising the bar for hip-hop in Zim.

7. WHO ARE YOUR TOP MUSICANS?

International Artists would include Drake, J-Cole, Chris Brown, Keri Hilson, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, Verse Simmonds, Rihanna,
Local Artists would include Tags, Tehn Diamond, Vari, Swiss Blizzle and Millz.
Basically any young artists that are breaking ground and paving the way for other young musicians who are awaiting their own break through in the music industry have our respect.

 We haven’t been in any competitions as of lately

12. DO YOU PERFORM IN PUBLIC DESCRIBE THOSE OCCASIONS

We have performed at a lot of concerts such as: Let it Rock, Breakdown 1, Breakdown 2, Hip-hop music Awards, Miss Harare jnr, Miss Harare Snr, and Birthday parties. We are still performing at these concerts as they come our way





13. HOW DO YOU HANDLE MISTAKES DURING A PERFORMANCE

The trick for performing is to be as confident as possible. Never to let stage frights get the better of you. Sometimes if you forget your lyrics, it’s a matter being able to improvise. Fans can be quite forgiving when this sort of issue happens.

14. DO ANY OF YOU GET NERVOUS DURING PERFORMANCES

Yes we sometimes get nervous before a performance. Last minute jitters are hard to avoid, but as soon as we get on stage we quickly get into the zone and put on a great performance.

15. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW COMERS?

Never quit on your dream even if the odds are against you.
Have the drive and the passion for what you do!! Adopt a strong and disciplined work ethic! Never be afraid to take the risk! Just keep the momentum and don’t give up when things become hard!

16. HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR MUSIC WITH OTHER OBLIGATIONS?

Basically music is our main obligation and so our timetable works around our music career, however we do put other important personal matters ahead of business as we believe that family means everything.

17. WHATS THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG.

The story behind the song “Best Days of My Life” basically refers to a celebration of our everyday accomplishments in life. It’s a song that inspired us to persevere and accomplish our goals
“Fly Bwoi Season (Do it with no hands)” is a song that appreciates the way you look as an individual! In this case: looking fly, having a keen fashion sense and looking your best each and every time for both The Ladies and The Gentlemen.

18. WHAT IS YOUR TARGET MARKET?

Our music targets the youth and the young at heart! Because our music is local and has an international appeal we therefore attract a large fan base.


19. WHAT HAS BEEN THE WORST NIGHTMARE FOR THE GROUP & HOW DID YOU GET THROUGH IT

Up to this point we have not faced any tragic incidents.

20. IF YOU COULD CATEGORIZE YOUR MUSIC, WHAT GENRE WOULD YOU BEST FIT IT? (NAME 3)

WITHOUT MUSIC AMVIS WOULD BE:  Most probably we would be computer technicians or we would be involved in travel and tourism.

MUSIC IS: Food to the Soul. It is the essence of our inner being. It is also the very reason to the existence of AMVIS.

YOU WRITE SONGS BECAUSE: There are stories that haven’t been told yet and life experiences that need to be shared. It is for this very reason that AMVIS has embarked on a mission to share our stories through our music.
